This version of the HP LaserJet Driver supports both Windows 95\98 and Windows Millennium. The revision history information below was generated based on Windows 95\98 but may apply also to Windows Millennium.

New functionality
  • These drivers now have digital signature files for both Windows 95\98 and Windows ME indicating that the drivers are WHQL certified for both operating systems. These files (.cat) are used by the operating system to verify that the software has passed Microsoft's WHQL certification test for Logo certification.
Enhancements
  • Enabled rotation of portrait pages. Previously, the 'rotated' option was only active when the page orientation was set to Landscape. The 'rotated' option is now available in portrait orientation.
  • Changed the label of the 'Print Colors As' option to 'Print All Text As Black' and moved this setting to the Print Quality Details dialog, where it made more sense.
  • Enhanced the Watermark functionality to allow for choosing among more shades of a selected color.
  • Performance enhancement: The driver more intelligently manages downloaded fonts to prevent certain applications from repeatedly downloading the same font.

Defect Fixes
  • Fixed a defect which could cause a GPF when printing from some MFC based apps in rare circumstances.
  • Fixed a problem which could cause TIFF images to print as solid black in Windows 98.
  • Improved performance with gradient fills used by MS Office 2000.
